What are your views on bikini tan?

I don’t go anywhere to get a tan in a bikini, nor do I wear bikinis. I simply am tan most months of the year because it gets hot in summer where I live and often times I’m riding in my car where the sun directly hits my face and upper body and it burns then tans within a few hours, especially if I’m wearing sunblock.

I don’t purposely tan like some white people who think it’s cool or trending to tan, or go to tanning beds, but I’m not a pale face either, that’s because I’m half black and have more melanin in my skin and I burn but tan a lot easier, even without sunblock and my natural skin color is more beige to begin with.

I’ve been severely burned quite a few times in my life from going swimming but it wasn’t because I Was going there to get darker, it’s because I like staying active and simply enjoy swimming a lot to lose weight and like being in cold water on a hot summer day, in fact, most of the residences I lived in had a pool in the back yard, which I frequently enjoyed just to cool off from the summer’s heat.

I’ve been swimming since I was 2 and although it ruins my hair, I still enjoy a dip and a swim in the pool or at the beach at the lake. I see nothing wrong with it. I haven’t gotten any wrinkles from it so far, as some have suggested happens and I’m almost 40. If I had any lines in my face, it was from years of smoking, and insomnia and PTSD and night terrors and not sleeping through the night fully, not because of bikini tanning, since I don’t bikini tan.

But I’m not against people who want to go bikini tanning. I won’t be one of them, but I’ll be in the pool sometimes swimming, enjoying the cold freezing water,possibly playing Marco Polo or swim volleyball and even drinking some wine while I’m in there, but other than that, I don’t bikini tan.

Nor do I hide from the sun all summer long though either.

I need some sun, which replenishes my vitamin D levels and often it’s still not enough, because my doctor still has me take vitamin D pills daily anyway.

And I’m too big to wear a bikini, I always use a one piece with a swimsuit short or skirt-like bottom to cover the lower part because I hate waxing down there, and I don’t want anybody to see it, plus waxing it is painful and often unnecessary, plus my boyfriends like body hair down there. No Brazilian waxes for this lady.

So, no, I don’t do this tanning thing, but I’m not hating on anybody who does, it’s their life and if they want to sizzle under the hot sun in practically nothing but a suit resembling underwear and they have the figure for it, then go for it.

I don’t really care to be honest, because it doesn’t affect me in the slightest. I would just tell anyone going out there to get some SPF 100 lotion, which they have available at most Targets. Thanks for the A2A.
